Abscess

Description
An abscess may occur anywhere in the body (lungs, teeth, gums, underarms, breast or almost any other area) and is a condition indicating local infection. White blood cells, known as leukocytes, collect in pockets in the infected area together with dead tissue cells and other substances to form pus - a dense opaque fluid. The function of the white blood cells is to fight infection and assist in rebuilding damaged tissue. Abscesses are basically a sign that the body is trying to rid itself of impurities.

Recommended Action
A good drawing poultice can be made up of a combination of the “single herbs”. This should be spread thickly over the entire area to bring the abscess to a head. Hot onions or freshly ground garlic (applied after a coating of olive oil), hot pumpkin or hot uncooked tomatoes can be used in lieu of the suggested herbs, if they are unavailable. After expansion, bursting and drainage is complete, a good healing and tissue building poultice should be applied.(See Appendix). The herbs may also be taken internally to speed healing, and at the same time a ten-day Cleansing Diet (see Section 3) should be implemented. Removing mucus-forming foods (see Mucus) from the diet. Thoroughly cleansing the blood should prevent a recurrence of the condition.

Single Herbs
Plantain (drawing); Comfrey (heals and rebuilds tissue); Garlic (disinfectant and tissue builder, apply a layer of olive oil first to prevent blistering); Chaparral, Burdock root or Echinacea (blood cleansers); Goldenseal root (disinfectant), Slippery Elm bark (soother and builder).

Combinations
A good drawing poultice can be made from 3 parts Goldenseal root, 1 part Myrrh, 2 parts Slippery Elm bark, 3 parts Plantain, and 1 part Comfrey. This poultice should be alternated with the fresh ground garlic poultice mentioned above. For the necessary internal cleansing, take two Goldenseal Plus Formula and two capsules of Cleansing Formula, twice daily after meals. The bowel must be kept clean through use of Lower Bowel Tonic if necessary.

Nutritional Supplements
BEVCB6, Vitamin C (500 mg, three to six times daily); Vitamin A (10,000 IU), Zinc (15 mg, two times daily). Apply Vitamin E oil after abscess is drained.
